ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Jake Mattis. I am from South Park, Pennsylvania which is about 15 miles south of Pittsburgh. I am currently graduated in April 2024 at the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering in mechanical engineering. I also received an economics minor. I would describe myself as a someone who loves to learn and always enjoys a challenge.
I came to Pitt to pursue my passion of engineering by joining clubs such as Panther Racing, Pitt's Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) Team, and Pitt's Chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
In addition to mechanical engineering, I also find economics and finance very interesting and received economics minor at Pitt. I was the Business Director for Panther Racing during the 2021-22 season, combining business operations and project management with engineering.
During my sophomore year of Pitt, I realized how important meaningful connections were to me. As a result, I decided to join Theta Tau, a professional engineering fraternity at Pitt with 70 active members. During my junior year, I accepted a position to become the brotherhood chair, fostering real connections by planning events such as bowling, paintball, board games, and painting.
During my senior year at Pitt, I joined Reformed University Fellowship (RUF), where I grew in my relationship with God and enriched my relationships outside of engineering.
In my free time I love playing soccer, Frisbee, and ping pong, and watching football, hockey, and Formula One racing. I also enjoy photography, cooking, going for late night drives through the city or country, and spending time with my family.
On this website there is an e-portfolio of my engineering projects as well as my 2024 resume.
Thank you for visiting and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to reach out!
